The History of Kitab Al-Muwatta Imam Malik PDF

Imam Malik bin Anas was born in Medina in the year 93 AH (711 CE) and died in the year 179 AH (795 CE). He was a descendant of the tribe of Banu Asim, which was one of the tribes that supported the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during his migration to Medina. He studied under many prominent scholars of hadith and fiqh in Medina, such as Nafi, Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, Rabia bin Abi Abdurrahman, and others. He also met some of the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and their successors.

Imam Malik started to compile his book of hadith and fiqh when he was about 40 years old. He named it Al-Muwatta, which means the well-trodden path or the smooth way. He intended it to be a guide for the people of Medina and a reference for the scholars of Islam. He spent about 40 years revising and refining his book until he reached its final form. He narrated his book to many students and scholars who came to learn from him in Medina. Some of them wrote down his book with his permission, such as Yahya bin Yahya al-Laythi, Muhammad bin al-Hasan al-Shaybani, Abdullah bin Wahb, and others.

Kitab Al-Muwatta Imam Malik PDF is one of the earliest and most authentic sources of hadith and fiqh in Islam. It contains about 1,720 narrations, out of which 600 are hadiths that are traced back to the Prophet (peace be upon him) or his companions. The rest are statements or actions of the successors or other scholars. The book is divided into 61 chapters that cover various topics of Islamic jurisprudence, such as prayer, zakat, fasting, pilgrimage, marriage, divorce, inheritance, trade, justice, jihad, etc.

Kitab Al-Muwatta Imam Malik PDF is not only a collection of hadiths but also a comprehensive manual of fiqh that reflects the opinions and rulings of Imam Malik and his school of thought. Imam Malik based his fiqh on four main sources: the Quran, the Sunnah (the teachings and practices of the Prophet), the consensus (ijma) of the scholars of Medina, and analogy (qiyas). He gave preference to the practice of the people of Medina over other sources because he believed that they preserved the original Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions.

Kitab Al-Muwatta Imam Malik PDF also contains many valuable insights and wisdoms from Imam Malik and his followers on various issues of Islamic jurisprudence. For example, he said: The best thing that I like for myself is what I like for others. He also said: The most knowledgeable person is the one who knows his own ignorance. He also said: The most pious person is not the one who fasts or prays more than others but the one who avoids what Allah has forbidden.

Kitab Al-Muwatta Imam Malik PDF has been praised and admired by many scholars and imams throughout history. For example, Imam Shafii said: There is no book on earth after the Book of Allah that is more authentic than Al-Muwatta. Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal said: "I do not know any book that 04f6b60f66
